Once upon a time there was a secret space mission to explore the Moon, piloted by an individual whose name was lost in the classified archives. Unhappy with the mission that had been given to him, he thought that analyzing rocks and drinking Tang was boring so he disobeyed his commanders and hijacked the ship that would take him on a journey back to Planet Earth.

Seeing that Earth offered infinite possibilities, he spent the following years visiting all sorts of cities, absorbing the local culture through music. He went to Kingston and Detroit, but he also passed through Chicago and Luanda, New York and Kinshasa, Berlin and Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Paris, London and La Havana: the list is endless.

After visiting every corner of the world, absorbing rhythms and colors along the way, he landed in Lisbon and started processing everything he saw and heard. From his desire to express what he experienced through sound Rastronaut was born, a meeting point between all the cities and cultures that he assimilated in his intra-planetary voyage. From the comfort of his spaceship, parked with a view of Monsanto, he fuses together kickdrums, snares, baselines and synths, in a schizophrenic attempt to condense everything he has seen in an audio file.

With over fifteen years of experience, the Jillionaire has created a unique sound which mashes indie dance and big room house with the caribbean rhythms of soca and dancehall. In 2009 the Jillionaire stole the show at London’s Notting Hill Carnival with his unique Tropical Bass sound. He went on to tour with Major Lazer across the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands.
In 2010 Jillionaire’s travelled to the four corners of the world, kicking off the year at New Zealand’s WOMAD Festival, followed by gigs across the UK and Europe. He coordinated Chicken n Beer (now in its second successful year), the first ever Tropical Bass party at Winter Music Conference/ Miami Music Week, and his No Shirt, No Shoes tour capped off a hectic yet successful year, taking him across North America, from the Carolinas to Texas to California. He has released a number of remixes and original tracks, honing his skills alongside production partners Richie Beretta (NYC) and Fellow (Amsterdam).
In 2011, “The Only Way Is Up” as he prepares to launch Feel Up Recordings, a new home for Tropical Bass and related dance music, delivering releases from a number of collaborators he has worked with over the last year and a half, stretching from Japan to the Netherlands and beyond. He’s a corespondent for a number of blogs including Mad Decent and Okayplayer’s Large Up and has appeared on Making Tracks, a documentary by National Geographic Music.

Munich is more then Oktoberfest and – musically speakin – “Giorgio Moroder” Disco music. Few people know that the capital of Bavaria is not only a hot spot for beer but also for BASS music. Over the last few years the Munich scene development was quite healthy, with the two guys from Schlachthofbronx getting the most exposure, playing raves with the big names of the Global Bass scene, like Buraka Som Sistema, Major Lazer, etc…
After an earlier blog buzz and due to the great media feedback on the launch of their selftitled full length debut-album (on Disko B) they toured all over Europe and even represented their airhorn-heavy sound in South Africa in 2009.
Berlin based tropicalbass label Man Recordings released two EPs, including their smasher „Ayoba“ with Southafrican superstar-MC Spoek Mathambo and new swedish riot grrrl Gnucci Banana on vocal duties in 2010.
After a busy years end of 2010, including being asked to support grammy/oscar-nominated pop princess M.I.A. on her Eurotour the guys from Schlachthofbronx are set to go even bigger in 2011, with an North America Tour lined up and strong new releases like their brandnew EP on Diplo’s Mad Decent fuelling their constant touring through all clubs that are ready for some serious bass, sirens n airhorns – and which can spell their name correctly!

Paul ‘Seiji’ Dolby is a producer from West London and has been on the frontline of cutting-edge music over the past decade as both an artist and an international DJ. As a founding member of the much-loved Bugz In The Attic collective, a solo artist for Sonar Kollectiv and producer and co-writer for Roisin Murphy, Seiji needs little introduction, having been one of the progenitors of the Broken Beat genre that went on to inspire many of his peers.

As a teenager in the early 1990s he discovered Hardcore, Jungle and later US House music. His early experiments in electronic music were released on the seminal Jungle/D’n’B label, Reinforced.

Seiji’s influence is now more keenly felt than ever, with myriad UK funky and contemporary garage producers referencing his work. He has now returned to underground dance music, presenting his own fresh and eccentric take on bass heavy music.

In 2009 Paul began releasing seijigoodies, a set of exclusive free tracks available via his website www.seiji.co.uk, he now presents the SEIJI series a brand new strictly dancefloor-focused project under his own imprint seijimusic which includes SEIJI 1 Yesman/Elevator, SEIJI 2 Straylight/Weedkiller and now SEIJI 3 More Of You/Sticks which will be released on 21st February.

The SEIJI series will be continuing with a release every 3 months in 2011.

PAUS is a Portuguese band from Lisbon.

Trying to make something different from their past rock bands, these four guys decided to try a new approach to dance music using rock instruments and a bizarre siamese drum kit, where two drummers, connected by the same bass drum, face each other the whole time. In their own words, the result is “a Siamese drum, a bass fatter than your mom and synths that make you feel things”. It’s all about rhythm with layers of synths, basses and vocal choirs, and it’ll make you move your hips.

With the release of their EP, “É uma água” on Enchufada, and their super energetic live shows they were quickly hailed has one the of the country’s biggest music revelations of 2010, playing at all major festivals and making their way to some of the most prestigious end of the year best album lists.

They are finally getting out of the country and heading to London’s ever growing XOYO club to perform as guests on a night curated by Buraka Som Sistema on the 29th of January. This will be their first foreign experience, so be sure to catch them.

After 2 years as a regular Dj in the major Clubs in Lisbon and Oporto (under a different name) Joel Ildefonso, aka Diamond Bass, decided to start having some more personal style on his sets by adding something produced by him.

The taste for African and Brazilian sounds is easily explained due to the social and historical context of Portugal and the close relations in centuries with Africa and Brazil. The mix and inclusion of House music was a simple and natural step since the goal here is to bring traditional rhythms to the dancefloor in a way they make sense inside a Club. The major influences are between several actual projects such as Buraka Som Sistema, Daniel Haaksman, Radioclit, Batida, Douster, Schlachthofbronx,.. In production, Ableton is the weapon of choice and apart of some vocals (some because other are recorded by Diamond Bass himself ), all the rest are original productions made with heart and devotion!

In clubs Diamond Bass sets are built up with House, Kuduro, Baile funk, Dubstep and anything that seems suitable at the time!

Nic Sarno is a DJ and a Music Producer from Milano, Italy.
His passion for music and arts in general comes from very far. He starts buying records since the age of 9 and always explored different kind of styles. At the age of 13 he gets hold of his first turntables and start djing. Around his 15′s starts to actively participate in the first illegal rave parties of the 90′s and at 17 years old he is the youngest dj to spin records in the Italian underground scene of that period.
His attention on new sounds as a dj allways involve him in various projects. Some of this are the musical collective THE LOVE SUPREME, born in 2003, conceived along with his friends Sapo and Robi Di Movi, and the Label ESP RECORDS, created in 2006 and quickly becamed a reference in the underground dance scene, producing tracks from Crookers, Hijack, Trevor Loveys, Congorock, His Majesty Andre, Bombaman, Mikix The Cat, Douster and Nic itself off course.

In 2010 will come out the long awaited debut album New Millenium Freaks from The Love Supreme on UK’s Tirk Records allready supported by Rough Trade, and on our upcoming HARD ASS SESSIONS vol.2 alongside with Bok Bok, Douster and Zombies for Money
