BURAKA SOM SISTEMA ARE BACK ON THE ROAD

Ok! So we’re not putting in your face all the reasons that made Buraka Som Sistema “The band” to watch live since the mythic shows at Club Mercado, in Lisbon. But if for some reason you’re one of the few that still didn’t get the chance to take part on their sonic trip, here’s your chance!
After a six month break, the group comes back with a renewed will to share with all of us not only the songs we know from the Black Diamond album and the Buraka To The World EP, but also some other songs and remixes we’ve heard in FabricLive as well as “B” sides from singles like “IC 19” and “Aqui para Vocês”.
From what we’ve heard at the rehearsals (somewhere around Lisbon) we dare to say that they studied very well their past lectures, but since they always liked to avoid the easiest paths, we can say that the new season starting in May at “Queima das Fitas do Porto” will be loaded with musical surprises.
These last six months revealed pretty productive for each of their members: Riot created Faster Music, a Drum’n Bass, Dubstep and Grime label. J–WOW stepped into a some hyperactive work doing remixes and also brought us two singles, “Klang” – through Deadly People and “O Dedo” through Mad Decent. Conductor went on an trip to Luanda and came back with his second record from his Hip-Hop project “Conjunto Ngonguenga” and as for Kalaf, he kept dedicated to his weekly chronicles at “O Publico” newspaper.
And Buraka themselves still managed to present us with their brilliant BBC Essential Mix last April gathering five star reviews from the international press and opinion-makers.
We told ya, didn’t we???

J-WOW WINTER MUSIC CONFERENCE REPORT!
Last week I visited Miami and the winter music conference for the first time and I got to say that apart from some corny house swimming pool party’s with bongos.. it’s pretty fuc*ing cool!!! 5 days of intense clubbing and all sorts of musical activities (yeah right!!)
I played 3 shows and they were all cool.. both from the crowd point of view and from the rest of the artists that I was sharing the bill with.. people like L-Vis 1990, Kingdom, Riva Starr, Annie Mac, Dj Mehdi, Brodinski, Nadastrom, Trouble & Bass, Congorock, Toy Selectah, etc… A mind refreshing experience!
Most of the people, specially in Portugal, have a weird idea about what the music conference is… everyone instantly relates it with bad commercial dance music, and I have to admit that there’s definitely a lot of that happening… but there’s also a lot of good weird and futuristic music getting played around.
If u don’t believe me check out some pictures:

2. Hanging out at the Standard Hotel
3. Annie Mac presents party at the White Room
4. Me, phra and switch took over some guy’s interview for something called Karma Loop (hope they put it on-line cause it must be hilarious)
5. Trouble & Bass Party…

“ELECTRIC 28″

The brands SUPRA Footwear and KR3W Denim and the Portuguese collective HAVE SCENARIO got together in Lisbon to introduce the collections Filthy Kr3w Forever and the Supra NS line to the trendsetters, design-lovers, sneakerheads and local fashionistas. The event took place at “Portas do Sol”, a brand new spot with an incredible view to the old city and the Tagus River.
The event was part of the official Lisbon Fashion Week after parties. The crowd was mainly fashion aficionados but the street culture elements were present due to the fact that both Supra and Kr3w have strong skater roots. J-Wow, Dinis, and Rai (Incognito) did the honours on a night that featured the Tokyo’s own Tigarah. The Japanese mc/dj is working on her new album in France and chose this occasion to visit Lisbon for the first time to spin some records.
Have Scenario is a collective of fashion-lovers driven by style who contributed their fashion knowledge to the Angolan brand MENTAL by Shunnoz e Tekasala who presented their collection at the final day of Moda Lisboa.

E-SPAM GOT NATIONAL AIRPLAY
João Barbosa aka J-WOW went to Antena 3 to review E-SPAM001 along side with Henrique Amaro at his show Portugália.

They talked about the attempt of Buraka Som Sistema to beat George Cloney’s air miles during last year tour all over the world, about Joao’s inevitable yet short rock career, about Roulet, a guy to watch from who we’ll give you fresh and juicy news pretty soon… But essentially they talked about music and the tracks included on our first compilation. Yes, this means that know that we have started… now can stop us now!!

EXTREME MAKE OVER

J-Wow is the driving force and one of the main producers in Buraka Som Sistema. After touring with the band around the world, wowing audiences from Coachella in California to Melt Festival in Berlin, from Fujirock in Japan to Bestival in the UK, now it’s time for a break! And like they say “a change is as good as a rest”, J-WOW has been working on some fun and inventive new material for his solo project.
His first release, Klang, is out 15 March on Deadly Records. The track is a delightful listen, and an ambient and melodic departure, which J-Wow says came about in an stress-free, organic sort of way. “I came back from Thailand, sat down in the studio and Klang happened.” This will be followed quickly by a much more main room smasher, “O Dedo” on Diplo’s Mad Decent label in April.
And for you who can’t wait for these, we give you an exclusive J-WOW track for free download. Follow this link , drop your e-mail and this code – REBJ086DA7223ED5 – and get ready to dance!!

J-Wow is the driving force and one of the main producers in Buraka Som Sistema. While the band take a break after touring the world supporting their debut album, Black Diamond, J-wow has been hard at work on some fun and inventive new material. His first release, Klang, an ambient and melodic departure from the Buraka sound, is out 6 March on Deadly records. This will be followed quickly by a dance floor smasher “Maconhas de Jesus” on Diplo’s Mad Decent label. J-Wow will be playing select dates in California, NYC and at Miami Winter Music conference before coming back over to Europe for a tour with Kalaf.

Deeply rooted in the fabric of London’s vibrant scene, L-VIS couples a defined British style with elements of global low end vibrations. By fusing elements of Garage, House, Dubstep and all around Bass Heavy riddims, L-VIS’s sound is filtered and reduced into what can best be described as a minimalist take on rhythmic club beats floating on elephantine subs. Mad Decent just released “United Groove Remixes” featuring 6 new versions from Buraka Som Sistema, M.J. Cole, Kingdom, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Cosmin TRG and Baobinga & ID.
