After listening to the awesome (We Stay) Up All Night remix that our Canadian friends Botnek just gave us, we couldn’t resist asking a few other great producers to create their own take on Buraka’s catchy single. That’s why we approached the talented British beatmaker Star Slinger to show us how he could recreate the track and make it his own, which he did by taking Blaya‘s and Roses Gabor‘s lyrics and turning the track into a dreamy and rhythmic dubstep workout.

When others give you lists, we give you music and open the portal for the much anticipated arrival of 2012. If the Mayans are right and the world ends a year from now, at least we’re going out with a bang!

To say goodbye to 2011 and welcome 2012, we’ve asked J-WOW to do a mix to showcase some of the surprises we have in store for the next few months. Here you’ll find tracks by the Swedish duo Savage Skulls, who’ll finally have their own debut single on Enchufada after being featured on the “Hard Ass Session Vol. IV” compilation; as well as T. Williams, who’s coming back with a dancefloor-wrecking new EP after dropping the red-hot “Getting Mine” single; the Portuguese duo Voxels, who you’ve heard for the first time on the “Hangover (Bababa)” Remix EP; Diamond Bass‘ freshly released “Lwanda”; and also a new remix of “(We Stay) Up All Night” by our canadian friends Botnek.

Alongside the forthcoming tracks on Enchufada, J-WOW also selected some of his favorite club tracks of the year for this 15 minute mini-mix, featuring tunes by producers such as Dubble Dutch, Mike Q, French Fries, JWLS, Joakim and Bambounou. Our friends from Montreal, the party-starting duo Botnek have given us a late Christmas present in the shape of a great new remix of Buraka Som Sistema’s single (We Stay) Up All Night, of the latest album “Komba”. It’s a good thing that it arrives just in time for the new year, as we’re pretty sure this new version will be tearing up club speakers at the wildest NYE parties in the world. After all, if the Mayans happen to be right we’ve got to party hard this year, just in case.

Thick and fat basslines, heavy pounding beats and laser-gun synths give a clubbier feel to Buraka‘s original track, making sure Blaya‘s and Roses Gabor‘s catchy lyrics will be heard everywhere in the beginning of the year. Beatport: Buraka Som Sistema’s Komba Chart

The wild beats of Angolan Kuduro music have been big in Lisbon clubs since the late 90s and Buraka Som Sistema – AKA J-WOW, Riot, Kalaf and Conductor – have fused it with 21st century electronics to create a whole new sound. This electro ghettotech take on their favourite South West African music has began quickening and corrupting dancefloors all over the world on the basis of their first EP, with sounds not many had heard before.

J-WOW and Riot began making music together in their teens, but the core of Buraka Som Sistema formed when the two began working with Angolan producer, Conductor, who brought along an extensive knowledge of Kuduro music to the equation, and Angolan MC, Kalaf. Buraka Som Sistema draw influences from the music of their youth and culture, fusing it with the inspiration taken from music genres as diverse as techno, drum’n’bass, hip hop and dance music. A revolving cast of talents completed the picture for Buraka, including guest vocals from Petty, M.I.A., Pongolove, Nolay and DJ Znobia.

After the immediate success of the debut album ‘Black Diamond’, Buraka Som Sistema retreated to the studio, spending the last 11 months working on the follow-up, ‘Komba.’ For this new release, the band recruited the support of collaborators like Sara Tavares, Roses Gabor, Terry Lynn and Afrikan Boy, as well as Blaya, who after spending three years on tour with the group, had become an indispensable presence on stage. The result is a merger between the two universes in which Buraka shines – the major concert arenas and the electronic clubs – a record that finds the guys coming into their role as a band, marking a clear evolution since the days of their first EP ‘From Buraka To The World’.

The guys who introduced kuduro to the world will be showing their new songs in Lisbon and Oporto before they head off to a world tour that’s sure to make this Winter a hot one.

After conquering festival stages and clubs all around the world, Buraka Som Sistema took some time to create a new album and to redefine the whole live experience that made them such a hit with the crowds. Come to the front lines of the global ghetto revolution at the Lisbon Coliseum in November 10th and the Oporto Coliseum in November 19th, and don’t forget to dress to sweat.

‘(We Stay) Up All Night’ feat. Blaya & Roses Gabor

Buraka Som Sistema are gearing up to release their sophomore album “Komba” that drop at the end of this month with guests like Mixhell, Afrikan Boy, Stereotyp and many more. But before that one hit the streets here comes another single off the album: ‘(We Stay) Up All Night’ which, you can tell by the title alone, is a great party anthem made as a dedication to all the freaks, geeks and nerds who stay up all night on the Internet, on Facebook, Twitter, iChat and so on, but also on clubs, raves, concerts and parties all over the world. The single features Roses Gabor and Blaya who makes her debut as a full-fledged vocalist, a transformation that began to take form on stage as she began to experiment with her voice as a percussive instrument, instantly becoming an essential part of the Buraka sound.

Peep the official video which is an homage to the increasing importance of social networking, directly referencing phenomena like Chat Roulette or other popular live video streaming websites like Boiler Room, where top DJs play their records facing a webcam and have their beats broadcasted to the biggest audience in existence: the Internet.
