As you should know, we’re preparing our very own stage with some of our favorite Enchufada artists to warm your winter with the best global ghetto bass rhythms around. We’ve reached out to Buraka founding member and label-head Branko (formerly J-WOW) to heat up the dance with one of his unpredictable, dance-floor destroying DJ sets, followed by the new kuduro kingpin DJ Marfox, the house-loving duo Voxels and the ambassadors of Venezuelan tuki Pocz & Pacheko, who return to Lisbon after a fiery performance at our bimonthly Lux residency “Hard Ass Sessions” last year.

All this will be made even better by the awesome stage where everything will be going down on December 8th, the historical Lisbon venue Cabaret Maxime! From the old days of being an aristocratic party hotspot to the sleazier years of the prostitution trade, this charismatic cabaret will now house this next generation of tropical-minded producers and DJs, effectively writing a new chapter in the 70+ years of history of this iconic club.

Caracas-born and Barcelona-based Pacheko is currently in the midst of a mission to bring the Venezuelan electronic phenomenon of Tuki to the world, as you may have heard on Tuki Love, his massive Enchufada track with his partner in crime Pocz, as well as the amazing ‘Who Wants Tuki’ documentary or the forthcoming ‘Changa Letal’ EP that’s just a few weeks away. On his quest to spread the tuki vibe worldwide, this talented Venezuelan producer and DJ recorded a mixtape for Playground Mag where he selected loads of rare changa tuki classics, unreleased modern tuki bangers and all sorts of weird, highly-danceable, bass-heavy tracks. He also sat down with the guys from Playground to talk about this brand new genre in an extremely comprehensive interview that provides a lot of information on how the movement was created in his hometown of Caracas. Essential reading for the modern global bass explorer.

Caracas-born and Barcelona-based Cardopusher keeps surprising us at every turn as this once dreadlocked producer turns in yet another stunning release, this time on his own label Classicworks. Effectively proving there’s no genre he can’t master, after hearing him make stunning dubstep, reggaeton, hip-hop, funk and house (maybe even at the same time) he now continues to add the acid and ravey sounds to an already impressive list of influences. ‘So What U Want Me To Do’ is the name of his brand new EP, which you can preview in the player below and includes a remix from fellow label-founder Nehuen. We first brought the American global bass producer Dubbel Dutch to your attention back in 2010, when we released his track Dead Pool on the ‘Hard Ass Sessions Volume IV’ mini-compilation, but he’s been keeping himself busy ever since. His latest sonic adventure is a remix for Canadian singer Ariane Moffatt, who recruited the producer to bring new light to the tracks from her album ‘MA’, alongside another Enchufada favorite such as Poirier. Dubbel Dutch’s minimalistic and airy version is available for free download below, via XLR8R.

Parisian bass specialist French Fries was first introduced to the Enchufada family back in 2010 when he teamed up with the Swedish duo Savage Skulls to deliver the amazing Marawa, a track we released on the ‘Hard Ass Sessions Volume IV’ mini-compilation. Since then he’s founded his very own label Clek Clek Boom and became known as one of the most skilled players in this weird new chapter in bass music history. The hybrid nature of his productions have really impressed Dirtybird label-head Claude Von Stroke, who just put out a brand new EP from the French beatmaker called ‘Space Alarm’. You can check out the two new original tracks below.

You may have seen Lisbon native Rastronaut behind the decks a few times at our bimonthly Lux residency Hard Ass Sessions, where he eclectically blends together the bass-heavy rhythms from the UK, ranging from subwoofer shaking dubstep to festive syncopated uk funky, with all kinds of house and techno hybrids thrown in for good measure. The unpredictable nature of his sets is displayed in full on Immersed Audio‘s latest podcast episode, which you can stream and download for free below.

King Kong must be one of the busiest young producers in Lisbon because it seems like every week he has something new to show us. After giving us a free download of his smooth U Make Me track on an earlier episode of this column, this time he’s back with a steamy mixtape for Tunacat Records, a label founded by Voxels‘ Pedro Chamorra. Hit play to listen to a bunch of King Kong originals and remixes, as well as some of his favorite records of late.

You may remember the Colombian band Bomba Estéreo from the ‘Komba’ bonus track Burakaton, where they lent a bit of their cumbia expertise to the kuduro ambassadors’ sophomore album. They are currently promoting their new album ‘Elegancia Tropical’, in which they fuse their Colombian roots with new influences such as bossanova and trip-hop, effectively creating new paths for the recent latin explosion inside the electronic music world. Nave Mãe (Portuguese for Mothership) landed in Oporto to shake the foundations of the city’s nightlife. After a decade on the frontlines of the Oporto hip-hop scene as Fidbek, part of the MatoZoo band and the now defunct label Matarroa – both important names in the Portuguese rap scene – his focus gradually shifted from the microphone to the turntables as the sounds of the bass music scene took over.

He reinvented himself with this new project and began exploring the bass-heavy sonic universe of the British underground scene, bridging the gaps between dubstep (and all its myriad subgenres), house and techno, while balancing the freshest new tunes with the classics of yesteryear.

Long gone are the days when the periphery sat down, eagerly waiting for the Western tastemakers to let them in on what’s the cool new rhythm to dance to. Bands like Buraka Som Sistema have proven with great success how the infectious rhythms from the ghettos of Luanda have taken over the global stage, setting the tone for a new breed of producers to incorporate kuduro and world rhythms in their ever-widening spectrum of influences, thus paving the way for the emergence of the Global Bass phenomenon. But of course you already know all about that, so we’d like to tell you about something new.

All the way from Caracas comes a new high-octane bass-heavy genre called Tuki, born and bred in the slums of the Venezuelan capital. Just like the people who created it, it is energetic, larger than life and 100% focused on the dance floor. After growing for a decade inside the impoverished neighborhoods of Caracas, producers like Pocz & Pacheko are finally bringing Tuki to European dance floors and ‘Changa Letal’ proves it’s here to stay.

On their quest to spread the Tuki virus worldwide, Pocz & Pacheko teamed up with one of the pioneers of the genre, DJ Yirvin, on the single Muévelo. This fiery new track will serve as the lead single of their brand-new Enchufada record ‘Changa Letal’, which will be released on November 12th along with a brand new video. Muévelo will also be available for free download (with one of the coolest artworks we’ve seen lately!).

Tracks like Aguas Calientes, Excalibur or the Cardopusher collaboration Los Rompediscotecas also serve as a feverish introduction to the hard-hitting rhythms of Tuki, by showcasing the 90s techno influence that permeates the style, as well as the modern influences of the Dutch bubbling and fidget scenes. All these styles are sped up and spiced with a wild South-American flavor, making them ideal for any thrill-seeking globalized dance floor.

On the collaboration front, the pair also teamed up with the kuduro ambassadors Buraka Som Sistema, who were probably the first outsiders to recognize the importance of the Venezuelan phenomenon, and couldn’t help but wanting to get in on the action in the hypnotizing Perrenke. Last but not least, the Venezuelan dynamic duo enlisted the remixing skills of Barcelona residents Disco Duro, whose appetite for dance floor destruction is bound to become common knowledge very soon.

Like Buraka Som Sistema and kuduro, or Bonde do Rolê and baile funk, we’re witnessing a sonic revolution that’s bound to rock the foundations of the Global Bass scene. Artists like Addison Groove, Brenmar and Toy Selectah were quick to show their support, so come meet us and Pocz & Pacheko on the front lines. For many of you the month of November is already checked on your calendars for a long time ago. Those who know what’s happening inside the Enchufada universe are well aware that this is the month we go back to Lisbon’s number one club Lux, but this time we’re doubling the party factor. November not only brings the last edition of 2012 of the Hard Ass Sessions, but also the second anniversary of the most tropical night in town. With so many reasons to cut loose and celebrate life – and knowing how we always have a couple of tricks up our sleeves – this couldn’t be a double celebration without a double performance. And who better to light up Lux’s dancefloor twice thanBuraka Som Sistema?

Yes, that’s right. Buraka want to make sure this will be an epic party and there’s no better way to do it than by performing twice in the same night. To celebrate the kuduro party’s anniversary, the guys who gave us ‘Komba’ and ‘Black Diamond’ are taking the stage to present a special club show for the very first time in their hometown, lighting the fuse for what will be an explosive night. After lighting the fuse the bomb is set to blast a bit later as the guys take the DJ booth by storm with their well-known yet furiously unpredictable Buraka DJs show, in which they bring the usual cocktail of crazy beats and heavy bass from all around the world.

However, if you think our surprises end here you should think again. After all, this is an anniversary party we’re talking about! Straight from London we bring you our very own Diamond Bass, who comes back to our residency to cap off a stellar year of testing the limits of Britain’s subwoofers. Last but not least we present you with yet another Portuguese-speaking surprise as Oporto-based DJ Nave Mãe takes the decks back-to-back with our boy Rastronaut for what will certainly be a booty-shaking debut.

Our main man in London T.Williams always manages to capture everyone’s attention whenever he drops a new track, and his brand new remix for brotherly duo Disclosure is no exception. You may remember his dancefloor expertise from Enchufada releases such as the impressively eclectic ‘Can We EP’ or the 2010 peak time bomb ‘Getting Mine’, but when he uses his serious skills to rework the Sam Smith featuring ‘Latch’, one of the biggest singles of the moment in the bass music scene, virtually anything can happen. It’s no wonder that half the internet is losing its collective mind over this one, and once you hit play on that Soundcloud widget below we’re pretty sure you will too.

Jago Pearson is the 19-year-old boy wonder Zulu, who managed to impress everyone by breaking into the scene with a couple of releases on Enchufada, Girls Music and Zoo Music, effectively proving there’s no minimum age for talented beatmaking. While his production style fuses together the unpredictable rhythmic elements of his parents’ world music CD collection and the modern bass-heavy electronic dance music – an approach that is in full display on his afro-techno leaning ‘I.N.C.L.E.H. EP’ -, his DJ sets are usually an eclectic affair where you can hear anything from hip-hop classics to the latest uk funky bangers. Case in point is his latest mixtape for the Mixpak FM series, which you can – and should – download for free right now.

Hungarian power duo Slap In The Bass impressed us so much with the bouncy rhythm of Tapa that we didn’t resist putting it in our ‘Hard Ass Compilation’ last May. Being addicted to the sounds of the global ghetto revolution, which they blend with dutch house and uk funky influences, their tracks are festive, danceable and highly addictive, as you can plainly see on their new club banger Indian Legends. London duo Mak & Pasteman is making big waves this year with a steady flow of dancefloor-ready tunes that sit nicely in the middle of energetic garage breaks and steady house beats. An example of their bare bones approach to the bass music scene is their brand new bootleg of Cassie’s amazing 2006 hit ‘Me & U’, a smooth and sultry tune they turned into a fresh 2-step club warmer. Moveltraxx is an awesome label from Paris who regularly put out quality bass-heavy music, including our very own Diamond Bass’ tune Sabi, which was released a few months ago. Keeping the tradition of regularly putting out compilations for free download, here’s ’Da Movelt Bucket’, the latest offering from the guys who’ve brought us cuts from artists such as DJ Tameil, Traxman or Canblaster. Bill Salas aka Brenmar should need no introduction by now. This amazing Chicago-born beatmaker has been wowing crowds and press alike with his unpredictable and colorful blend of hip-hop, bass music and all sorts of electronic beats, making him one of the stand-out artists in this crazy mutant world of bass-centric club music. He entered the Enchufada family back in 2011 when we released the ‘Hard Ass Sessions Volume VI’ with his track Waiting On, but he’s been keeping himself ultra-busy ever since. Case in point is this brand new remix for R&B icon Justin Timberlake‘s 2006 Beyoncé collaboration Until The End of Time, which turns the original’s smoothness into instant dancefloor action. Next up we have Portuguese powerhouse DJ Manaia, half of the Zombies For Money outfit, who were responsible for the heavyweight track Me Toca Só on the 2010 Enchufada release ‘Hard Ass Sessions Volume II’. Their ‘anything goes’ approach to electronic dance music has taken them around the world and back again, and after releasing stuff on labels such as Trouble & Bass and No Brainer they’re taking their time to work on some solo stuff. Dj Manaia‘s new solo material is the loud ‘Bairro EP’, a free Breaks Lda. release featuring collaborations with Portuguese artists MC Ex-Peão and Santo Ovídeo Grime and the young moombah lover King Kong on the remix. Speaking about King Kong, the young Lisbon producer keeps surprising us with his mellow and romantic approach to the slow tropical moombah rhythms. The last offering from this prolific producer is called U Make Me and it’s a track he made to celebrate his own birthday, featuring all the trademark King Kong sounds such as those dreamy pads, sliced-up soulful vocals and straightforward booty-shaking beats. So pick up your phone, make your booty calls, light a few candles and play this song and we guarantee you’ll have a great night.

Last but not least we have a new mixtape by American powerhouse Dubbel Dutch, who you may have heard on the 2010 Enchufada release ‘Hard Ass Sessions Volume IV’ with the track Dead Pool. Right now he’s getting ready to release a new single called Self Help Riddim, and to get us all pumped up for he just gave away the awesome Self Help Minimix, composed almost exclusively by his own original tracks and several remixes. After lending her voice to the addictive Buraka single (We Stay) Up All Night and collaborating with heavyweight producers like SBTRKT, Gorillaz or Shy FX, London singer Roses Gabor is finally ready for her solo debut. ‘Stars’ is the name of her debut EP, which will be released on November 12th by Toddla T’s label Girls Music, but her brand new video for the lead single is already making the rounds in the blogosphere. Both contemplative and energetic, this Redlight-produced track shines with rumbling basslines and warm synths, layering it all with unpredictable drums that provide the perfect instrumental background for Roses‘ voice, as you can see on the clip below.
