CARDOPUSHER PREPARES NEW EP FOR BOYS NOIZE’S LABEL

The eclectic Venezuelan producer Cardopusher never goes very long without making the news on our website. Between his many releases, such as his recent remix for French producer Baadman, or news from his own label Classicworks, the prolific Barcelona-based beatsmith has already become an essential figure in the current electronic music scene. Proving this statement, the producer has revealed three new snippets from his upcoming EP on BNRTRAX, a sublabel associated with the Boysnoize Records imprint, founded by the respected German artist who goes by the same name. ‘Faults’ is the name of the EP, which is coming out on May 27th. NEW MUSIC: SKREAM GIVES AWAY TWO NEW TRACKS FOR FREE

Dubstep poster boy and one of London’s leading DJs and producers – and rightfully so – Skream steps forward with a brand new two-track EP for free download via Digital Soundboy. According to the label, Mood To Funk and Diam revisit “the kind of hypnotic and melody-driven basslines that confirmed Skream as one of the most innovative players in the scene”, but they also give a fair warning to clubbers as the Londoner’s new tracks will cause “dancefloor carnage with its high-octane synth attack”. Consider ourselves warned, then.

After Branko kickstarted the Upper Cuts series with his stunning Njena Reddd Foxxx collaboration and Buraka Som Sistema contributed with the genre-defining Zouk Flute, now it’s time for another Buraka founding member to enter the series. We’re talking about Riot, the eclectic DJ and producer who started the global kuduro revolution with Branko and the rest of the crew, and is still turning heads on the Portuguese drum&bass and dubstep scene.

Since it was up to him to close the first Upper Cuts season in style, he decided to surprise everyone with a personal take on the fresh Zouk Bass genre by fusing slow Caribbean-influenced beats with the fast-paced rhythm of drum&bass. Buraka Som Sistema founding member Riot is coming up next on the Upper Cuts free download series with his take on zouk bass rhythms and the news seem to be spreading. Despite being a well-known artist in the Portuguese electronic music scene – especially in the drum&bass and dubstep scenes – there’s always room to learn a little more, and that’s why the radio host Rui Portulez asked him about some of his favorite producers for his new Portuguese-only blog ‘O Leopardo’. If your Lusophone skills are a little rusty, Riot chose to talk about drum&bass game changer Dub Phizix, the Dutch trio Noisia, recent Buraka collaborator Dismantle, dubstep founding father Mala and Russian producer Enei.

WILDLIFE! PRESENTS ‘ROXY REBOOT REMIXED’ WITH A FREE DOWNLOAD

A while ago we let you know that our favorite Swiss producer Wildlife! released a new album called ‘Roxy Reboot’, where he found the middle ground between Jamaican music and punk, by inviting reggae artists to cover classic punk songs and vice-versa. After teaming up with the likes of the The Vibrators for Armagideon Time or Natalie Storm for Should I Stay Or Should I Go, the tropical bass maestro now presents the remix edition of the album, featuring new versions by Enchufada favorites like Schlachtofbronx or Poirier, but also Optimum, Ital Tek, Sam Tiba, Radiorifle and the list goes on.

ZEBRA KATZ RELEASES NEW MIXTAPE ‘DRKLNG’

By now most of you should already be familiar with the New York MC’s 2012 hit Ima Read, where Zebra Katz and Branko collaborator Njena Reddd Foxxx presented their personal, dark and menacing take on rap. From there several other singles followed, like Pulla Stunt, W8WTF and Y I DO, which further secured his spot among hip-hop’s most crucial innovators and awarded him the praise of critics and listeners alike.

Now he’s back with brand new material on ‘DRKLNG‘, where he further explores the kind of bass-heavy slow beats that made his breakthrough single great, siding with producers such as Paul Devro, Deville, Lenkemz or Mike Dextro. However, the most unexpected moment of the mixtape has to be the Busta Rhymes version of the signature track Ima Read, which he twists into Ima Lead with positive results.
