Tipped as one of the producers to watch in 2011 by Fact Magazine, the hype surrounding newcomer Melé already has heads taking notice. At just 19, he is already recognised as a promising producer with a series of releases that have got both artists and critics hungry for more.

With a unique sound, Melé is capable of delivering on every level – from progressive club music to deeper minimal productions interspersed with deadly deep subs. It’s Melé’s rhythmic inventiveness, and virtuoso touches that really set him apart.

Setting a relentless pace with his own productions, he’s already released EPs on Sound Of Sumo and Mixpak Records. These, and his forthcoming release on Sinden’s Grizzly label, play testament to his prolific producing ability. As for remixes, he’s been working with the best, having been asked to rework tracks by the likes of Mad Decent’s Mumdance and Fools Gold heavyweight, Greenmoney.

Artists like Toddla T, Brodinski, Sinden, L-Vis 1990 and Hervé are already big fans of his work, and club promoters are queuing up to join the party. To say the future looks bright would be an understatement, the sun be shining all day for Melé right now. To quote his mentor, Sinden, ‘Melé has the world at his feet’.

Like most college dropouts, DJ Skeet Skeet traded in his text books for home-cooked meals when he moved back in with his mom and before he knew it, he was throwing his life away by frequenting the LA party scene. A few too many nights out on the town coupled with an affinity for Lil’ Jon resulted in the birth of DJ Skeet Skeet. Before he knew it, “Skeet” was spinning all over the place – from celebrity hotspots like Hyde Lounge in Hollywood to hipster hangouts like NYC’s Studio B, as well as clubs in the Las Vegas and Atlantic City nightlife scene.

In 2007, Skeet teamed up with LA-natives and longtime friends Shwayze and Cisco Adler to complete the “Shwayze” outfit and they were quickly signed to Geffen Records. In the last year or so, Skeet has further kept his name on the radar with an appearance in the film “The Haunting of Molley Hartley”, which was played for audiences of over 20,000 at festivals like Bacardi B-Live, Bud Bowl and Street Scene. Skeet is currently on tour with Katy Perry on her “California Dreams Tour”, playing arenas filled up with upwards of 20,000.

He went to school, like most of us. He got a glimpse of love in school, like most of us. Unlike most regular people, however, Klipar (also known as Diogo Cunha) also took school as an opportunity to get started as a DJ – playing those parties where drinking and kissing go hand in hand (you know the type – we’re sure you were there too). Soon after, he took a stab at trance music and realized how somehow, DJing made total sense.

These days, the sound has changed, and the skills improved. He’s playing UK Funky, UK Garage, Bass, House, Electro, Grime, Dub – and people are paying attention. Also Is being part of some other projects such as Tales For Teens and Zombies For Money who’ve just signed to Trouble & Bass from Brooklyn, with his partner of war, Dj Manaia, who’s having a huge hype at moment. Now with some releases out and a few remixes is ready to move ahead. And the desire of stop working is far out of sight.

The wild beats of Angolan Kuduro music have been big in Lisbon clubs since the late 90s and Buraka Som Sistema – AKA J-WOW, Riot, Kalaf and Conductor – have fused it with 21st century electronics to create a whole new sound. This electro ghettotech take on their favourite South West African music has began quickening and corrupting dancefloors all over the world on the basis of their first EP, with sounds not many had heard before.

J-WOW and Riot began making music together in their teens, but the core of Buraka Som Sistema formed when the two began working with Angolan producer, Conductor, who brought along an extensive knowledge of Kuduro music to the equation, and Angolan MC, Kalaf. Buraka Som Sistema draw influences from the music of their youth and culture, fusing it with the inspiration taken from music genres as diverse as techno, drum’n’bass, hip hop and dance music. A revolving cast of talents completed the picture for Buraka, including guest vocals from Petty, M.I.A., Pongolove, Nolay and DJ Znobia.

After the immediate success of the debut album ‘Black Diamond’, Buraka Som Sistema retreated to the studio, spending the last 11 months working on the follow-up, ‘Komba.’ For this new release, the band recruited the support of collaborators like Sara Tavares, Roses Gabor, Terry Lynn and Afrikan Boy, as well as Blaya, who after spending three years on tour with the group, had become an indispensable presence on stage. The result is a merger between the two universes in which Buraka shines – the major concert arenas and the electronic clubs – a record that finds the guys coming into their role as a band, marking a clear evolution since the days of their first EP ‘From Buraka To The World’.

Iggor Cavalera is best known for his part as the drummer in Brazilian super band Sepultura. Today Iggor is reinvented with a new project and fresh outlook; and although an element of the spice that made Sepultura such an instant hit remains, the words on everybody’s lips are MixHell.
Mixhell is a new and exciting collaboration which aims to fuse together the best and most uplifting elements of the rock and electronica scenes to create a „Rock-tronica“ effect.

After working alongside some of the greats including Necro, Ice T, Zegon, Sabotage and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy; the overwhelming presence of an organic, intuitive and complimentary musical sound, often associated with the electronic music language, was hard to ignore, and became the driving force behind the project. With this in mind, Iggor and wife Laima have moved the project from its creative home in the studio to the stage where it has become a DJ project with an extraordinary Live element. Iggor and Laima have now incorporated an MPC Sampler into their DJ Sets, which allows them to fully explore the inner depth of their music whilst delving into the depths of Electroclash, Hip Hop, Cyber Punk and dark Rock ‚n‘ Roll and unleashing it on an underground dance community. The music they are creating on the fly is very beat oriented and gives the feeling, almost, of having a pulse. This is clearly Iggor’s effect coming from a dominating percussive background.

Iggor and Laima’s blend of old and new makes it a perfect fit for the dancefloor as the combination of turntables, CDJs, mixers, laptops and drum pads create an extremely versatile and engaging experience.

Once upon a time there was a secret space mission to explore the Moon, piloted by an individual whose name was lost in the classified archives. Unhappy with the mission that had been given to him, he thought that analyzing rocks and drinking Tang was boring so he disobeyed his commanders and hijacked the ship that would take him on a journey back to Planet Earth.

Seeing that Earth offered infinite possibilities, he spent the following years visiting all sorts of cities, absorbing the local culture through music. He went to Kingston and Detroit, but he also passed through Chicago and Luanda, New York and Kinshasa, Berlin and Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Paris, London and La Havana: the list is endless.

After visiting every corner of the world, absorbing rhythms and colors along the way, he landed in Lisbon and started processing everything he saw and heard. From his desire to express what he experienced through sound Rastronaut was born, a meeting point between all the cities and cultures that he assimilated in his intra-planetary voyage. From the comfort of his spaceship, parked with a view of Monsanto, he fuses together kickdrums, snares, baselines and synths, in a schizophrenic attempt to condense everything he has seen in an audio file.

Twin Turbo are the twin brothers Nuno and Pedro Pinto.
After a few experiences in other projects, they began playing together as DJ’s in early 2006. Since then, they have played in the best clubs in Porto, their home town, and Lisbon such as Lux, Hard Club and Indústria plus festivals like Paredes de Coura. Always on Turbo mode, their sets are intense, revealing the influences of rock and heavy-metal music that they grew up listening to mixed with electronic sonic that tears apart the dance-floor.
They had the pleasure to share the booth with some well know international djs, such as Yuksek, Dre Skull, Vicarious Bliss, The Proxy, Zombies For Money, Shadow Dancer, Baobinga, Maral Salmassi, Chelis, Loo & Placido, Malente, His Majesty Andre, Azari & III Xinobi, and many more.
Now, music production is the next step. After making some mashups and edits for their own sets, they did some remixes for Dare2disco (Kiez Beats), Roulet, Mirror People, DJ Loveboat and Ludovic (Raving Loony).
The first original track “Fogo” is out on Kiez Beats from Hamburg and the release includes a Zombies For Money & Jony Tevez remix.
And yes, they have a passion for vehicles with supercharged engines. Care for a ride?

With over fifteen years of experience, the Jillionaire has created a unique sound which mashes indie dance and big room house with the caribbean rhythms of soca and dancehall. In 2009 the Jillionaire stole the show at London’s Notting Hill Carnival with his unique Tropical Bass sound. He went on to tour with Major Lazer across the United Kingdom, France, and the Netherlands.
In 2010 Jillionaire’s travelled to the four corners of the world, kicking off the year at New Zealand’s WOMAD Festival, followed by gigs across the UK and Europe. He coordinated Chicken n Beer (now in its second successful year), the first ever Tropical Bass party at Winter Music Conference/ Miami Music Week, and his No Shirt, No Shoes tour capped off a hectic yet successful year, taking him across North America, from the Carolinas to Texas to California. He has released a number of remixes and original tracks, honing his skills alongside production partners Richie Beretta (NYC) and Fellow (Amsterdam).
In 2011, “The Only Way Is Up” as he prepares to launch Feel Up Recordings, a new home for Tropical Bass and related dance music, delivering releases from a number of collaborators he has worked with over the last year and a half, stretching from Japan to the Netherlands and beyond. He’s a corespondent for a number of blogs including Mad Decent and Okayplayer’s Large Up and has appeared on Making Tracks, a documentary by National Geographic Music.

Munich is more then Oktoberfest and – musically speakin – “Giorgio Moroder” Disco music. Few people know that the capital of Bavaria is not only a hot spot for beer but also for BASS music. Over the last few years the Munich scene development was quite healthy, with the two guys from Schlachthofbronx getting the most exposure, playing raves with the big names of the Global Bass scene, like Buraka Som Sistema, Major Lazer, etc…
After an earlier blog buzz and due to the great media feedback on the launch of their selftitled full length debut-album (on Disko B) they toured all over Europe and even represented their airhorn-heavy sound in South Africa in 2009.
Berlin based tropicalbass label Man Recordings released two EPs, including their smasher „Ayoba“ with Southafrican superstar-MC Spoek Mathambo and new swedish riot grrrl Gnucci Banana on vocal duties in 2010.
After a busy years end of 2010, including being asked to support grammy/oscar-nominated pop princess M.I.A. on her Eurotour the guys from Schlachthofbronx are set to go even bigger in 2011, with an North America Tour lined up and strong new releases like their brandnew EP on Diplo’s Mad Decent fuelling their constant touring through all clubs that are ready for some serious bass, sirens n airhorns – and which can spell their name correctly!

Roulet’s some guy called Tiago Trole. Funny name, isn’t it? Trole.
Ahead…Roulet is a youngster from Lisbon studying Fine Arts and Multimedia at Beja University and, on his own words “I’ve started this music thing in 2006, when a friend introduced me Fruity Loops, this basic music production software. I think it was still the demo version, the FL4″. This friend became a big influence on Roulet’s style being Kuduro the predominant one. Roulet remixed Buraka Som Sistema’s Kurum and this become his first release. It didn’t take long to be noticed since it was included on Buraka’s FabricLive 49 compilation. This collaboration was the major driver to Roulet and Enchufada start working together and Roulet’s first EP, Kitamanda, came out in 2010.
