João Barbosa aka J-WOW went to Antena 3 to review E-SPAM001 along side with Henrique Amaro at his show Portugália.
They talked about the attempt of Buraka Som Sistema to beat George Cloney’s air miles during last year tour all over the world, about Joao’s inevitable yet short rock career, about Roulet, a guy to watch from who we’ll give you fresh and juicy news pretty soon… But essentially they talked about music and the tracks included on our first compilation. Yes, this means that know that we have started… now can stop us now!!

We gathered artists from Lisbon to Luanda, put it all on a CD and called it E-SPAM.
There’s no concept. Just music that we like. The CD will be available with Blitz Magazine for Portugal in March and features songs from Buraka Som Sistema, Orelha Negra, PAUS, Macacos do Chinês, Octa Push, Roulet, and many more… The digital release will also be available on all the usual shops around the same time.
As you know we like to party, so we scheduled a couple of launch partyes to complete the package!!
On March 4th we take over Lux, in Lisbon, with a live performance from PAUS followed by a hand-full of DJ’s that will keep you busy all night!!!! Macacos do Chinês (DJ SET), J-WOW (Buraka Som Sistema), Zombies for Money and our guest of honor Douster. Douster is a French young producer who lives in Bueno Aires for the better part of the last 2 years. From remixing Rusko, Nouveau Yorican, Gucci Mane to his own Triassic EP he has produced something completly new and fresh. Lazer Bass Cumbia Reggaeton? The next day, March 5th, it’s time to hit Plano B, in Porto! DJ Riot (Buraka Som Sistema), Octa Push (DJ SET) and an exclusive Live show from PAUS! PAUS is a 4 piece band where Helio Morais (Linda Martini) and Quim Albergaria (Vicious 5) play a siamese drum set, together with Mokoto (If Lucy fell) on the bass and Shela on keyboards and all of them try to sing…

The BBC reported “It is described as the story of how an eccentric French shop keeper turned documentary maker attempted to locate and befriend Banksy, only to have the artist turn the camera back on him”.
Banksy said: “It’s the story of how one man set out to film the un-filmable. And failed”. He later elaborated to the Guardian “It’s a film about a man who tried to make a film about me. Everything in it is true, especially the bits where we all lie.”

BATIDA “BAZUKA (QUEM ME RUSGOU?)” VIDEO
“Bazuka” is Batida’s first single and you can see it here.
Batida is a radio show broadcasted by the Fazuma family that, since 2007, promotes their favourites on everything Afro or Afro inspired urban music.
On Fazuma’s own words “This time, we dived into the archives of RTP Africa. The idea was to select images that illustrate the hidden story behind “Bazuka”, the track that started “Dance Mwangolé”. We hand-picked and mixed historical footage, with some contemporary images we collected over the last years. Others were sampled from of our documentary “É Dreda Ser Angolano”. Then we took some graphics that Roda made for the cd, Limão made a few extra illustrations, Macaco Simão did the animation and it was concluded with some post production. The need to make this video increased, because most people couldn’t get the minimal story behind “Bazuka”.
So here it is: “Bazuka” is based on the testimony of a popular in our documentary “É Dreda Ser Angolano”, who raises an unanswered question: “Who drafted me?” He was “drafted” as a child, or recruited and forced to fight in war, got lost from his family and survived with serious health problems. We found him in Luanda in 2005. He has a name. He is the unknown soldier. Has “got two pieces of shrapnel from the war, in his head” and faces a new battle everyday: The survival in time of peace. “Ya. That’s all i have to say.”

EXTREME MAKE OVER
J-Wow is the driving force and one of the main producers in Buraka Som Sistema. After touring with the band around the world, wowing audiences from Coachella in California to Melt Festival in Berlin, from Fujirock in Japan to Bestival in the UK, now it’s time for a break! And like they say “a change is as good as a rest”, J-WOW has been working on some fun and inventive new material for his solo project.
His first release, Klang, is out 15 March on Deadly Records. The track is a delightful listen, and an ambient and melodic departure, which J-Wow says came about in an stress-free, organic sort of way. “I came back from Thailand, sat down in the studio and Klang happened.” This will be followed quickly by a much more main room smasher, “O Dedo” on Diplo’s Mad Decent label in April.

While the band take a break after touring the world supporting their debut album, Black Diamond, J-wow has been hard at work on some fun and inventive new material. His first release, Klang, an ambient and melodic departure from the Buraka sound, is out 6 March on Deadly records. This will be followed quickly by a dance floor smasher “Maconhas de Jesus” on Diplo’s Mad Decent label. J-Wow will be playing select dates in California, NYC and at Miami Winter Music conference before coming back over to Europe for a tour with Kalaf.

While Rage Against the Machine reached #1 in the UK Buraka Som Sistema reached the peak in Spain!
The song reached the charts in late September in #40 and 7 weeks later #1 is the new home for the Buraka song.

“Saudade” is the new MdC video and there’s gonna be a party
Macacos do Chinês (MdC) have a new video released this month and it is full of dust and high speed.
The video will be exclusive on MTV and here you can check all the inside information!
Since MdC are very very freindly and love clubbing, on December 2nd there’s gonna be a party!! It’s happening at Clube Rua where the winners get their prizes from the “Saudade” contest and MdC will do a showcase. The DJ’s Unidade Sonora will be the masters of the night behind the decks.
