If you’re following us then we can safely bet that you’ve heard of a music genre called kuduro. And if you know and enjoy kuduro (and know what’s happening in Lisbon’s fiery underground scene), chances are you’ve listened to DJ Marfox‘s amazing fast-paced and intense beats. Buraka Som Sistema may have been the ones who introduced kuduro to the world, but if there’s one artist who is truly changing the genre from the inside is Marfox, with his modern electronic music influences and old-school dance floor focus.
It’s one thing to mix kuduro with several other styles to create something completely new, another thing is to expand the kuduro spectrum by incorporating all these influences into it’s rhythmic template, carving a brand new space for the genre in this process. This is what Marfox has done ever since he started making a name for himself with beats like Drift Furioso or Marfoxiante, and it’s what he’s doing now on recent releases such as ‘Eu Sei Quem Sou EP’ or the freshly-dropped ‘Artist Unknown EP’ on Pollinate Records.
Check out a few samples of Marfox‘s trademark electrified and feverish kuduro below and help us spread the word about this amazing producer from the suburbs of Lisbon.
