VOXELS (PT)

This is a team which finds strength in the differences that set them apart. Between Oporto and Lisbon, a former basketball player who was almost a heavy-metal guitar player became a DJ and got used to the social game of night clubs, while an ever-busy hermit only came up to the surface to enter a booth or pick up keyboards and random machinery to further expand his underground studio.

Voxels fit together because they share the same core values: an admiration for the danceable classics of the 90s, a willingness to explore new sounds and use weird elements, and also – being the gentlemen that they are – the sensitivity of design, visual arts and girls. They have developed three different live presentations: a standard DJ format, a DJ+VJ format combining visuals and music, and a full fledged live act where unpredictability is key.

Meanwhile, if a tree falls in the woods and nobody witnesses it, does it make a sound? What does one hand clapping sound like? Is it possible to make techno with pan pipes and Cologne sausage cans? These questions can and will be answered in the many improv sessions that go down in the Voxels magical bunker, where diversity is the main concern, while still being firmly anchored on the four-by-four house rhythms.
