BURAKA SHEDS NEW LIGHT ON ‘KOMBA’S FIRST SINGLE WITH THREE POWERFUL REMIXES EXCLUSIVELY ON BEATPORT FROM SEPTEMBER 19TH

As the October release date for Buraka Som Sistema’s much anticipated sophomore album ‘Komba’ gets dangerously close, they decide to whet our appetite ahead of of the imminent arrival of their single (We Stay) Up All Night with a collection of remixes of Hangover (BaBaBa) by leading global producers, as well as that acapella that we can’t seem to remove from our brains. The Dubstep Don Caspa, Netherlands’ own bass prankster Munchi and Oporto smooth-talkers Voxels get to work on Enchufada‘s maddeningly catchy June release, keeping expectations high for Halloween, the day Buraka returns to the land of the living with the worthy successor of ‘Black Diamond’.

Caspa should need no introduction by now. His name is synonymous with Dubstep, the sub-heavy sound that came out of the streets of London and took the world’s most forward-thinking clubs by storm, and he aims to keep it that way. This talented and prolific producer knows wobbly bass and heavy beats like no other, and he’s been proving it consistently since 2006 on labels like Dub Police or Sub Soldiers, both prime dubstep imprints. He gives Hangover (BaBaBa) the half-step treatment, containing the track’s energy before unleashing its full power as the drums seem to build up forever. An exercise in sonic tension.

Munchi is the face of the globalized bass-loving youth that’s taking the Internet by storm with all sorts of crazy beats. With tastes ranging from straight-up dubstep to the latin rhythms of cumbia and moombahtoon, this Dutch youngster is leading the way in the merger of electronic music culture and tropical madness. His approach to Buraka’s red-hot single is every bit as infectious and catchy as the original, but the youngster focused on an hypnotizing lead synth that is sure to incite riotous behavior. Just be careful when unleashing this one on a pumped-up crowd.

Voxels are a Portuguese production team hailing from Oporto who love geeking out with all kinds of machinery and software to create their unique take on electronic music. They like it loud, intense and emotional, and to get the sound they want the pair is willing to try anything from acid-laden techno to wobbly UK sounds, making them as flexible and creative as you could possibly want. Drawing inspiration from all these different genres, the pair recreated the original in a bassline house style, with thick beats and a mean growling bass that will prove to be a challenge to even the most seasoned ravers. Partygoers beware.

The original Buraka track and video has been getting support all over the world, being featured on internationally renowned publications such as Pitchfork (who premiered the single’s colorful video), XLR8R, The Fader or Prefix Mag, as well as provoking a huge response in the music blog world, as can be seen in Drowned In Sound, Tropical Bass, Discobelle, Hypetrak or Generation Bass. If the mass appeal of Hangover (BaBaBa) was undeniable, just wait and see the damage that these three remixes will bring to club subwoofers all around the globe.
